Poster: I would like you to choose a country that lies between the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer. I would then like you then to imagine that you are to attend a global conference on biodiversity on conservation in Nairobi, Kenya. You are to prepare a poster that touts the rich diversity of your selected country but also presents the conservation challenges and their history and cause. We will have an in-class poster session and we will engage in peer review. Worth 20% of your final grade.
Please submit your poster PDF by midnight March 5th to me via email. The poster sessions will be held on consecutive Mondays – March 6th and March 13th according to the schedule I sent out and indicated below. We will allot a lot ~8 minutes per poster. We will allow about 4 minutes for audience members to read the poster, then ask the presenter to stand at the front to answer questions on their chosen country, its biodiversity, and the conservation challenges it faces. If you wish you can provide a 1-2 m overview of what you feel are the most salient things that you learned about your country (an elevator pitch). I will provide some ‘treats’ to power us through these Monday sessions.
